Philippines have different kinds of festivals which are celebrated yearly and it is one of the reasons why tourists visit the country. As 2012 starts to unfold its book, Filipinos especially Baguiohanons (people live in Baguio City) are proud to introduce to you one of the most awaited festival in their place, the Panagbenga 2012!
Panagbenga Festival is also known as “Baguio Flower Festival”. It is one of the main highlights Baguio City has in the early year of 2012. This is commonly celebrated with flower float parades and of course mixed up with street dancing which is participated by Baguiohanons and even other people live outside Baguio and of course with flowers in their costumes. This festival features different kinds of flowers, which is the main attraction and the subject of the feast. Panagbenga Festival is celebrated every February of the year as this where the flowers starts to bloom. Panagbenga is a “kankanaey” which means “the season of blossoming”, wherein, in the early month of February all the flowers in Baguio City is starting to bloom.
Panagbenga 2012 is officially opened and was launched last November 14, 2011. The festival is in the the 17th year of celebration with the theme of “Community Convergence for a Sustainable Tourism Growth” and it is expected to be more exciting and attractive as it has been since it had started. As Baguio City welcome 2012, they also arranged and prepared the entire schedule for the activities which will be held in the month long of February to 4th day of March.
